Green Horse Ranch - Ecuador

Our ranch is situated in the middle of the 6-kilometer-wide volcanic crater, on the equator - in middle-earth. All around the globe the equator-line runs mainly through water and primeval forests. In Ecuador it crosses rich and various hilly areas. You can find any type of climate and vegetation from eternal snows to virgin rain forest.
The landscape is as diverse, breathtaking and dramatical, as only described in the sceneries of Tolkien’s novel „Lord of the Rings“. Though it was filmed on the southern island of New Zealand, the story plays in middle-earth and our riders consistently seem to discover the landscapes of the book during our rides.
Sometimes lovely and pictorial as in the Shire, sometimes mystical and mysterious as in Fagorn Forest, sometimes luminous and moving as in Rivendell, but also as cliffy, scant and eldritch as Moria.
Therefore, they all are to be found with us: the Hobbits and Magicians, the Elves and Fairies, the Lords of Gondor and the Folk of Riders, the Dwarfs and Gnomes. They live in the names of our 30 horses whose characters are as different as the heroes of the story. Passionately, we always do our very best to choose the suitable horse for each of our guests.

Reiten durch atemberaubende Landschaften inmitten der Anden: bizarre Bergwände, tiefe Schluchten, vulkanische Quellen, kristallklare Flüsse, wilde Orchideen, Bergnebelwälder, tropische Vegetation und präinkaische Ruinen. Urwald und Einöden, sonnige Täler und windige Höhen, aktive Vulkane und malerische Kraterseen, fruchtbare Felder und tropische Wildniss.
Die Kontakte mit der einheimischen Bevölkerung erlauben uns darüber hinaus faszinierende Einblicke in Ecuadors Kultur und Geschichte.

En la sierra andina, a unos 15 Km. al norte de Quito, en la latitud 0, encontramos al volcán Pululahua que fue activo hace 4000 años, y cuyos suelos brindan hoy una tierra fértil para la agricultura, tomando en cuenta que su cráter es el más grande en el continente y es el único habitado. Gracias a su posición geográfica, su clima templado, la belleza de sus paisajes y su gran biodiversidad, está atrayendo a turistas y científicos tanto nacionales como extranjeros desde hace muchos años.
Por primera vez, existe ahora la posibilidad de explorar estos pintorescos parajes a caballo, el cual nos llevará hasta los lugares más remotos y escondidos del cráter, pasando por hondas quebradas, ríos de agua cristal, aguas termales, antiguos flujos de lava, abandonadas minas de piedra caliza, sitios arqueológicos y bosques nublados.
